MS support is fantastic on Twitter, searching for the name of a treatment finds loads of people on it, and thus advice and support. Equally helpful with random questions about whether something is a MS symptom or just a run of the mill thing.

There was a fascinating segment on sleep on R4 Start the week this morning, I’d recommend it for a listen.

I must admit that I have never asked for health advice on Twitter. A good part is because like most people, I probably wouldn't get a reply, good or bad, and so it would be a waste of time. I have used search engines, though mostly because I already knew what was wrong and was looking for some extra advice. But for clinical advice, I tend to add "NHS" to my query and hope there is a result from the very useful NHS website.

Hello Rory, I am not a 'Parkie' but I have had a an on going engagement with insomnia since at least 2014. I too used the wonderful Glasgow sleep plan. "Tench those muscles." It did help to deal with the insomnia but it only made sense when in 2019, I was diagnosed with stage 4 Melanomia. Now all cleared. So yes symptoms are therefore for a reason, like when we bash a limb a bruise appears as a result. Also your point about missing meds. is important, do everything you can to remind your self to take them. I too have refused to Google anything about my condition and prefer to trust the real experts who have spent years training to do their job. Go well.

Quite agree twitter etc have uses if one engages one’s brain while reading. So easy and dangerous to ignore leaflets with medicine - the side effects always seem the same but occasionally something crops up that really matters.

I think you are spot on there Rory. I do think we have to 'heal ourselves' in some cases, ie take the pills at the right time, know when you have missed some pills etc. I think we have to work with the doctors and not just expect them to fix us. No matter how good the doctor or cbt person, if you hadn't told them you had missed two pills and lost two nights sleep they would have struggled to find a 'cure'. I also agree a network of friends and talking about stuff often comes up with a Good Idea.
