This week’s episode of Movers and Shakers started as a look at what the Labour government has done in its first 100 days to start work on its promises to improve care for people with Parkinson’s.
The waiting time for anyone with Parkinson’s to see a neurologist is unacceptable. I wonder where all the fundraising money goes? I would like to forward your substack to two old geezers (this is what they call themselves) Professor Carl Heneghan and Professor Tom Jefferson. I have a feeling they may have something to say about this.
the state of affairs with the NHS is demoralising for both staff and patients. GP waiting times to even get an appointment are weeks. Staff in hospitals, bless them, are struggling with the workload. Thank you for spotlighting things and hopefully help find solutions to a very real crisis that impacts the whole society
Did the Oxford neurologist explain why there's such a long wait? Are they short of neurologists? It's not clinic space because I was there at the JR for an appointment (not PD) in September and there were only 3 other patients there. Felt like the Marie Celeste.
Does someone have data for the country as a whole? It has a feel of a Postcode Lottery about it.
Sorry, have you got a book out? I hadn’t heard 😉

I started listening to the podcast this morning, Rory and heard one of your co-presenters mention their difficulty with dictation.
I find typing difficult due to YOPD, but have recently started using two new AI-powered dictation apps which are much more accurate than most.

Now listened and understand the problem. Only 1 PD neurologist at JR when other areas have 3 ......
