I think that the diagnosis makes you more determined to make your mark in life as it were....carpe diem and all that. I know a sense of urgency is omnipresent in all I do and YOPD lead me to meet and work with people like Martin and many others in the PD world So far. I have got an MA, done stand up poetry in Barcelona, published two poetry books, been on Mastermind and
almost stripped off on telly for Jenny Eclair.... point being I think you grab the opportunity to be
Creative much more readily than you would have done pre dx. Great podcast and newsletter. Thanks.
This, along with the Kids ep has been the highlight of the second season - terrific stuff - truly inspirational. Is J Paxman role playing being the gloomster? If not then isn't it worrying that he has so little to contribute? Or has the PD beast got to him more than the rest of you?
I signed up for and completed my DBA after my PD was diagnosed. I did have much more energy once I was taking the medication and, yes, the slightly manic phase did mean I could work on papers until 3 in the morning. Sadly my fatigue is now troublesome and I don’t have the wherewithal to write academic papers to disseminate my findings. I keep thinking I could write a book or have a podcast even.
There is always a silver lining. Without my PD diagnosis I would, until very recently, have still been working full time in the NHS or in Government. The past few years, with the pandemic and with the way Civil Servants have been treated, I have been so pleased to be out of it.
Rory, you're often asking us to upgrade to paid, but I don't think you've told us what we'd have to pay..........
