Thank you so much for bringing Bas to Movers and Shakers! I have come across him quite a few times in the past, never in person although I feel as though I've really met him! Such a clever, lovely, funny man who is a best friend to all of us. And he wants to be invited back! Yes, please! And if you haven't read the book "Ending Parkinson's Disease" then I'd recommend that you put it on your Christmas list. It has several authors, is full of so much information. Thank you again.
Great podcast, as always. Love the energy though somewhat amused about the heli-skiing advert at the start: I’m struggling to think of an activity that I would find more challenging with Parkinson’s 😀⛷️🚁
there was absolutely nothing fresh about this post, I have read so many articles with the same exuberance and the fact is most of them use words like Can, May, Should, Hope, future, possibly.. and so on.
The fact of the matter is that the people that are classically trained in neurology are sadly controlled by the vision they see through the 1 dimensional glasses that big pharma put on them at birth.
To quote my Neurologist: when asked what he knew about a cure he stated that there is nothing that he knows of I just want to make you comfortable.
While he keeps reading his old books with no new ideas.
And the beat goes on. Just think of the money poured into Cancer research over the last 100 years.
And all we have are treatments???
Parkinson’s is no different, just another opportunity to make money.
So this Rock star from Holland just loves the sound of his own voice.
Fascinating. Interesting to hear that Parkinson's presents differently in each person. My father developed severe rheumatoid arthritis in his fifties which devastated his body in a short period of time. Then in his 70s developed Parkinson's - I felt the two were possibly linked. I hope this wonderful doctor does make progress he certainly gives hope.
I loved this story and I love this doctor. Don’t we all wish to have someone like this helping us with our journeys through a chronic disease in our lives. Thank you for sharing this meeting with such a caring neurologist.
