World Parkinson’s Day - Friday April 11th - is our big chance to throw a spotlight on the world’s fastest growing neurological condition and exert a bit of pressure on lawmakers to improve care. Last year the team behind the Movers and Shakers podcast took our Parky Charter to Downing Street, which garnered a few headlines - this time we have got something that anyone can attend. Yes, get ready for the Big Sing!
Last summer, to our amazement, we found ourselves recording a cover version of Gloria Gaynor’s I Will Survive with new Parkinson’s appropriate lyrics written by the brilliant Gillian Lacey-Solymar.
Now we are staging a mass singalong of We Will Survive opposite the House of Commons from 12 on Friday. Around the UK a number of choirs are joining in - Mark Mardell will be attending a Big Sing event in Huddersfield. You will find all the details on our podcast’s website here.
Do download the information sheet but I’ve stolen the map from it to explain exactly where we are meeting - see the inexpertly applied red blob across the road from Old Palace Yard.
And Google StreetView shows the space where we will gather.
Song sheets will be distributed and don’t worry if you are not much of a singer - watch the video and you will see you are in good company!
Oh, and this is a good moment to remind you to sign our petition calling for the implementation of the Parky Charter. We may have news soon of the government’s response.

Hope the Scottish I Will Survive Parkinsong gets a good shout out too!
